Empowerment and Skills Development

Empower your workforce with accredited courses to improve the quality of services for your business.

The PetroCONNECT Skills Development Programme connects businesses that are looking to upskill their workforce. There are SETA accredited short courses, Learnerships and we also facilitate Tax rebate claims for businesses who have appointed PetroCONNECT as their Skills Development Facilitator.

The programmes offers a variety of qualifications accredited by SETA. The training is delivered through a combination of hybrid and classroom-style learning.

A learnership is a work-based learning programme that leads to an NQF registered qualification. Learnerships are directly related to the occupation or field of work. For example, a learner enrolled for the service station operation would need to be within the service station.

Skills development programmes provide employees with bridging programmes to obtain a full qualification.

How are the programmes delivered?

The programmes are delivered through e-learning, face to face or blended.

Are there minimum requirements?

South African citizenship, English proficiency (spoken and written), matric qualification or equivalent and or Grade 10, clear criminal and credit record.

What are the benefits of skills development for business owners?

The employer may claim learnership allowances in respect of registered learnership, over and above the normal remuneration deduction.

This allowance is granted in two parts which consist of a recurring annual allowance and a completion allowance. An annual pro-rata allowance is granted depending on the number of months falling within the relevant tax year. The completion allowance is determined by multiplying the number of completed 12 months periods of the learnership to the amount below:

For learnerships entered into or after between the learner and the employer before 1 April 2022, the allowances are:

The quantum of the annual allowance is equal to –
• R40 000 for a learner holding an NQF-level qualification from 1 to 6; or
